Pecha Kucha Night Manila Vol. 3

Pecha Kucha: PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.

It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.

Last December 2009, Saab  invited me to Shangri La to watch the second Pecha Kucha Night here in Manila. That same night, I was instantly caught by the brilliance of Pecha Kucha. So when I heard the news of Pecha Kucha Vol. 3, I BBMed Saab to watch.
Pecha Kucha Manila Vol. 3 speakers
Here are my top 3 favorite speakers of the night:
1) Mr. Paulo Alcazaren.
He is a known architect who talked about the history of our city's landscape. His talk was very educational and interesting!
Proposed New Capitol Buildings 1950's

2) CarlJoe Javier.

He is a writer/ independent publisher. One reason why I got so impressed by him is that he is so geeky yet so cool at the same time. Not to mention I learned a lot on how it is to be your own publisher. Very indie! haha

very cute book cover
3) Mark Meily
A popular writer/ director. He talked about Filipino Film Acting Clieches that basically revolved the idea of NASA (Nora Aunor School of Acting). I am such a fan of Mark Meily ever since one of my favorite Pinoy films Crying Ladies back in 2003.

Ask Mark Meily about Shooing the Fly or Looking for Contact Lens-- two of the staple acting styles in Filipino movies. All because of Nora Aunor!!!

Crying Ladies Written and Directed by Mark Meily
I super want to watch this movie again :) Downloading now....

I can't wait for December 2010, Pecha Kucha Night Manila vol. 4 :) :) :)
